Kids & Youth Farm Programs

Hands-On Experiences with Animals, Land, and Community

Hidden Pastures offers farm-based programs for kids and youth focused on connection, confidence, and meaningful experiences with animals.

Our programs are rooted in real farm life — caring for animals, working alongside others, and learning through doing. Kids are invited to engage at their own pace and grow through everyday moments on the farm.

This is not therapy.
It’s a place to learn, belong, and build confidence through experience.

Who These Programs Are For

These programs are a good fit for kids who:

  • enjoy animals, nature, and hands-on learning
  • benefit from structure and predictable routines
  • learn best by doing
  • feel overwhelmed in competitive or high-pressure settings
  • want connection without constant performance

No prior farm or animal experience is required. We welcome a wide range of learning styles and nervous systems.

Our Approach

Life on a farm naturally supports responsibility, cooperation, regulation through movement, and confidence built through real skills.

Kids learn by caring for animals, participating in age-appropriate farm tasks, working alongside peers, and spending time outdoors in a steady rhythm. Adults guide and support without rushing or forcing outcomes.

Program Pathways for Kids & Youth

We offer several ways for kids and teens to engage with the farm, depending on age, interest, and readiness. Families are encouraged to start with group-based programs whenever possible.

Farm Club (Ages 6–15)

A calm, hands-on after-school farm program where kids care for animals, work on seasonal farm projects, and ease the transition from school to home.

Farm Club is intentionally multi-age, supporting confidence, responsibility, and connection through shared experiences — without competition or pressure to perform.

Seasonal Camps (Spring & Summer)

Immersive farm days filled with animals, outdoor play, and creative learning. Camps offer space to unplug, move, and engage deeply with the rhythms of farm life.

Structured, supervised, and intentionally paced.

Western Riding Lessons (Led by Katie)

Skill-based Western riding lessons for kids and teens focused on safety, relationship, and confidence. Lessons are calm, intentionally paced, and centered on horsemanship rather than competition.

Riding is optional and not required for participation in other programs.

1:1 Equine-Assisted Coaching

Individual equine-assisted coaching sessions are available on a limited basis for youth who need more personalized support.

This option is explored intentionally and is not the default starting point.

Not Sure Where to Start?

Most kids do best beginning with Farm Club or camps, where confidence and connection develop naturally alongside peers.

If you’re unsure which option is the best fit, we’re happy to help.
