Explore the Farm Together

Little Farmers is designed as a shared experience for adults and children to enjoy together.

A parent or caregiver must remain with and actively supervise their child throughout the program.

Rather than dropping children off for a class, families explore the farm side by side while children become more familiar with animals, nature, simple responsibilities, and the rhythms of farm life.

What Might Little Farmers Do?

Each one-hour session includes a mix of guided animal encounters, farm exploration, simple age-appropriate activities, and opportunities to learn through movement, touch, observation, and play.

Children may:

  • Help brush an animal
  • Explore what the animals eat
  • Practice simple farm chores
  • Discover plants and nature
  • Participate in a farm-themed activity
  • Listen to or participate in a farm-themed story
  • Explore the sights and sounds of the farm
  • Practice gentle interaction with animals

Activities vary from session to session, giving families something new to experience throughout the season.

Little Learners Learn by Doing

For young children, learning often happens through movement, repetition, observation, touch, and play.

A simple experience such as brushing an animal, carrying a small scoop, noticing what a goat eats, finding something growing in the garden, or helping with a small farm task can become an opportunity to explore and participate.

Little Farmers is not about completing a long list of activities.

It is about giving young children time and space to discover farm life at a pace that works for them.

Participation at Your Child’s Pace

Children are never required to touch or interact with an animal.

Some children may want to participate immediately. Others may prefer to watch first, stay close to their caregiver, or explore from a little farther away.

Families are encouraged to participate at the level that feels comfortable for their child.

The goal is to create opportunities to explore — not to force interaction.

Small Groups for Little Explorers

Little Farmers groups are intentionally kept small so children can comfortably explore the farm, interact with animals, and participate at their own pace.

Smaller groups also allow families more room to move through the experience together without making the farm environment feel overwhelming or rushed.
